Too Much Pressure!
The above image is the cover of the first release from The Selecter from way back in 1980 when I graduated from high school, specially dedicated to all the cool kids that got "let go" from the Atkins Groups - crank up the totally bitchin' Too Much Pressure!
And here's another nice little ska ditty to get your Friday started - also from the Selecter, James Bond off of their 1992 album Out On The Streets.
The Selecter's 1980 debut is every bit as tough as The Specials' first album, and for the most part is much groovier. When The Specials slowed down, they sounded as if something was wrong; Too Much Pressure shows that The Selecter were able to pull off the perfect mix of power and soul. "Three Minute Hero", "Danger", and "Murder" are absolute Ska killers, while tunes like "Missing Words", "My Collie" and the great "Black & Blue" show that even when playing below the speed limit, The Selecter are still deadly. Arguably the best album of the 2 Tone era.
Have a bueno and safe weekend y'all!
peace,
Migwell
