New & Groovy!

New and Groovy. Couldn't have said it better - it's new to me and yup, it's groovy all right!

Don't know a whole lot about Johnny Lytle other than he's a pretty bad ass vibes man.

Here's a couple of my favorite tracks from the New & Groovy lp released on January 21, 1966: Come And Get It and Pulpit.

Enjoy!

Sir Brian Wilson on the Boards

Ok, before we get into this Brian Wilson post, you gotta check out this saxy, start your weekend number, Tum-Tiki from The Enchanters. Direct from the 1963 45!

Ok, back to Brian:

Yes, it's true. Brian Wilson never surfed. But, as you'll see on the incomplete list below, he was always on the boards...

Check out this rare gem that 21 year old Brian produced back in the summer of 1963, dig Beach Girl by The Nodeans.

With thanks to Steve Dunn, here's my staggering wish list of Brian Wilson's work for other artists.

This is the most comprehensive list available and an ideal point of reference to start or add to your collection.

Steven points out that the list only includes work where Brian Wilson had a creative input. For example if he only sang harmony or played piano on a track it is not included in this list.

Ah, wouldn't it be nice to have it all... Speaking of Wouldn't It Be Nice, check out this promotional video for "Wouldn't It Be Nice" from 1966!

My wish list focuses primarily on what I like to call the Genius Years, the innocent Brian Wilson years, like the one in the above promo video, the pre-1970's.

Migwell's Surf Selections 001

Here's the premier set of some of my favorite relaxing beach vibes featuring the mellower and more quiet side of classic surfing instrumentals.

I think you'll find these first three gems, and those soon to follow, to be the perfect wind down music for the end of a hectic day or perhaps you might want to include these into your Sunday morning mix.

Or maybe you might want to throw these on during your next sunset drive. Better yet, why not enjoy these with a cold one out by the pool? The choice, as always, is up to you.

Either way, I hope you enjoy the music.

First up is Corona Del Mar by Los Coronas from their 1995 self titled LP from Tritone Records.

Next is Wild as the Sea by The Sandals off of the 1964 soundtrack of Bruce Brown's Endless Summer.

And finally, from the Surf Trio, Las Luchadoras from Curse of the Surf Trio on Pin-Up Records, 1995.

Lots more to come, ©Stay Tuned Y'all!

Nice Kitty!

Thanks to artist Chris Lensch for the cool robot illustration.

As I was searching for some transitional segues for future Mystery Streams I came across this hilarious 60 second segment, (it's from either an X Minus One or Dimension X episode, I'll find it and post the whole show later,) but for now check out: Kitty Meets Robot 23!
