GNR - SFW!

After 14 years in the making and at a cost of 13 million dollars, the "new" Guns N’ Roses album, “Chinese Democracy,” will finally go on sale Nov. 23rd. So, with 14 songs on the album that works out to about a million dollars per song and one song per year...

Yawn. More details here: Chinese Democracy Is Really Here!

The best part of Ben Sisario's New York Times Art Beat Blog post regarding “Chinese Democracy", for me anyway, are the comments that follow and I couldn't agree more!

Here are some of my favorites so far:

What an appropriate name. I consider listening to Guns N Roses to be a form of torture. - mark

If Waterworld was rescored to Chinese Democracy, the universe would collapse. - boatbutter

The new single rips the riff from the Scorpions’ “Rock You Like a Hurricane” and goes downhill from there. At least Tommy Stinson got paid. - J Frank Parnell

It would have to be the second coming of ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ to be worth the wait. I’m guessing it will be closer to the gary cherone Van Halen. Fail. - nsfw

“Axl Rose — the only remaining original member …” What we have here is essentially the world’s best Guns ‘n Roses cover band. (or Axl's solo album -HMK)

Where’s:
Slash? (The eccentric lead guitarist with a penchant for top hats and hard alcohol).
Izzy? (The rhythm guitarist and brains behind the original band - this guy mostly wrote Appetite for Destruction singlehandedly).
Duff? (The juggernaut bass player)
Steven Adler? (The original punk-roots drummer who pounded out Appetite for Destruction)… OR…
Matt Sorum? (Adler’s clinical replacement, responsible for the Use Your Illusion drums and that weird cover album). - Jerky

Dear Best Buy, Negotiate a generous return policy with the label. - Stuart S

The only thing it’s the beginning of is the latest chapter in the continuing decline of an art form whose best days are long behind it. From a band whose ouevre was all of two albums. . . - Edwardo

I just hope I finally get paid. - buckethead

Looking forward to the first track “Get off my lawn!”. - David C.

woo hoo, rock n roll, best buy, plastic surgery, and a 14 year wait?! that’s spontaneity and rebellion for ya! - steve b

$11 million of that was for catering. - Chuck

And my favorite comment, the very first one:

Grandpa’s gonna be so happy. - c.b.

Wonder what the latest line in Vegas is for that Nov. 23rd release date...
