Here's a little preview - an Endless Summer knock off from 1965, The Islander, by The Sunliners who eventually changed their name and became Rare Earth in 1967. They had a handful of hits in the early 70's including covers of The Temptations' "(I Know) I'm Losing You" and "Get Ready".

Dig The Sound Index from the BBC. It's basically a ‘buzz’ index of bands and tracks being discussed on the web.
Sound Index uses IBM’s Semantic Super Computing to crawl sites like YouTube, Bebo, Last.FM, iTunes, Google and MySpace, in an effort to find out what people are writing and blogging about, listening to, watching, downloading and logging on to.
Based on the above, you get Sound Index's chart of the most popular 1000 artists and tracks on the web.
According to the site:
The more blog mentions, comments, plays, downloads and profile views an artist or track has, the higher up the Sound Index they are. So, the Sound Index is a music buzz index controlled entirely by the public.
As we know which artists are being enjoyed by which people, not only can you can filter the Sound Index to reflect the sites you use the most, or your favourite music styles, you can also tailor it to represent the views of people of different ages and locations.
Not bad, pretty mainstream, but that's the web right? I really like the thinking behind both the idea and the execution.

Kraftwerk and Neu! founding member Klaus Dinger has died of heart failure at the age of 61. Mr. Dinger passed away on March 20 and was later buried in a private ceremony including his family and friends.
Klaus Dinger was a German musician and songwriter most famous for his contributions to the seminal Krautrock outfit, Neu!, and his invention of the Motorik beat. Less known is that he was the former percussionist and founding member of Kraftwerk
Dinger was most known for being the back beat behind the two band’s music with his ‘Motorik’ drumming style.
He later formed La Dusseldorf with Thomas Dinger and Hans Lampe, the band sold more than a million albums and were referenced as influences by the likes of Brian Eno and David Bowie.
Sad news.

I've been meaning to post this for a few years... Crank up this Bow Wow Wow classic from 1981, the infectious C30, C60, C90, Go!
Their label at the time, EMI, refused to promote the cassingle "C30, C60, C90, Go!" because it allegedly promoted home taping, as the B Side was blank. Take that RAA and DRM - genius!
I'm guestimating that I've put at least 200+ mix tapes together since my first mix on 8-Track back in 1976.
So with that, as the ceremonial transition from my classic Sony Walkman to the Apple iPod, I decided that this would be the perfect first song to listen to on my iPod.
Turn it up! C30, C60, C90, Go!

I'm not sure what or who I'd be without color or sound. Both of these intangibles are such a huge part of everything that makes this life worth living for me.
With that said, check out yet another amazing homegrown release from my amazingly talented friend, San Antonio's own, Mr. Joe Reyes. This is all Joe - words, vocals, instruments... amazing.
Like some of Joe's other numerous recordings, who knows if this will ever be officially released but man oh man - what a beautiful song!
Relax, close your eyes and escape with the unforgetable and tranquil Colors & Sound
