You're soooo lucky! Today I've got some groovy, mid 60's, French, get-up-n-move vibes for you that'll remind you that yes - it's still summer! I'm thinking these will work nicely with just about anything you might have going on after the sun goes down today. Come to think of it, and although I haven't tested them sitting around the pool (yet!) these would go absolutely perfect with a nice poolside cold one.

Either way, here's hoping at least one of these French gems make it on to your permanent Saturday night mix. I've got this twistin' trio in both my Bohemian Mai Tai Jet Set playlist and the Official A Night at The Fabulous Tiki Room playlist.

Aerosmithsonian Flashback!

This goes back to 1989. One of my favorite pieces. This was done for the dual celebration of the official unveiling of the Aerosmithsonain at the Hard Rock Cafe + the official PUMP release party. Aerosmith played a good chunk of the new album PUMP live to an estimated crowd of about 150 VIP guest! (J. Giels, dudes from Boston, The Cars, totally crazy cool) Wicked amazing to see them in such perfect form rocking out in such an amazingly intimate setting! Yeah, my Guardian Angle has a backstage pass... I've also got the audio of me getting the above signed by Steven Tyler in between the MTV and Entertainment Tonight interviews. Stay tuned! Thank you Patrick Lyons, Elaine Wood and Steven Tyler - get well soon!

Probably the single most coolest party invitation I've yet to have had the privilege of creating!

100 Years Ago Today: Clarence “Leo” Fender is born.

The designer, engineer and inventor would found the Fender Electric Instrument Manufacturing Company, the banner under which he created and produced the first wave of commercially successful electric guitars, basses and amplifiers. Fender’s panache for instrument design reached its pinnacle with his work on the Telecaster guitar, the Fender Precision bass and, most famously, the Stratocaster, the musical instrument that was the central force in defining rock ‘n’ roll in the 1950s and ’60s, and whose influence continues to dominate every genre of popular music.

Leo Fender didn’t invent the electric guitar. Six-string slingers had been experimenting with rudimentary amplification systems since the early decades of the 20th century. Always itching for more volume, guitarists were eager to be heard above the drums and other loud instruments in the dance bands of the time.

The first real innovations toward electric axes, however, came with the awarding of two patents for magnetic pickups. The first went to Gibson’s Guy Hart for his company’s Hawaiian guitar design on July 13, 1937, and the second went to Rickenbacker’s George Beauchamp for his horseshoe magnet pickup design featured on his company’s lap steel “frying pan” guitars, on August 10, 1937 — coincidentally, Fender’s 28th birthday.
